Maintaining your Timber Flooring

Simple steps to maintain the beauty of your timber flooring

Place a brush or door mat outside entrances to collect tracked in dirt, debris and excess moisture from shoes, this cuts down
on the amount of dirt that ends up on the floor and helps reduce the risk of scratches to the surface of your timber flooring.


What to Do

  • Use felt floor protectors on all chairs and other furniture, the heavier the item the thicker the floor protector should be.
  • For any spills, just wipe up with a sponge or cloth.
  • Broom, soft bristles is a very effective way to remove dirt, without damaging the finish on the timber floor.
  • You can use a Vacuum cleaner on hard floor settings Mop, use a damp almost dry mop, to clean all timber floors
  • If you have a pet bowl on your timber floor, consider putting a mat underneath to stop any accidental spills.

What not to Do

  • Do not use a Steam Mop as this will damage your floor.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring powders or steel wool, which can scratch timber floors.
  • Do not use products which can leave a film on your floor, with soap based detergents like mop and shine.
  • Do not wax or polish timber floors
